European Integration Fund (Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals)
Measures for the integration of third country nationals with residence permits (people from non-EU member states) are sponsored by this fund. Exceptions to this are measures to foster the integration of asylum seekers, recognized refugees and people granted subsidiary protection that can be funded by the European Refugee Fund.
The European Integration Fund supports
- active participation of migrants in community, cultural, and professional life in the receiving country
- interaction of third country nationals with the majority society
- activities aimed at sensitizing the majority society
- measures that contribute to optimizing services in the receiving country
- member states in development, monitoring, and evaluation of the integration measures.
As a central contact and service point for applicants and other interested persons, the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) is responsible for evaluating, managing, and monitoring submitted projects.
