Liese Prokop Scholarship

Twice a year the ÖIF allots the Liese Prokop Scholarship to recognized refugees and beneficiaries of subsidiary protection studying at an Austrian university or a university of applied science (Fachhochschule). The ÖIF is responsible for counseling, filing the application, and support. An awards commission, made up of a representative from the Federal Ministry of the Interior, a representative from ÖIF management, and two former scholarship recipients, decides who receives the scholarship. There is no legal claim to a scholarship.

Who can apply for the scholarship?

  • People granted asylum in non-degree study programs
  • People granted asylum who have their foreign degree nostrified or officially recognized by an Austrian university
  • Beneficiaries of subsidiary protection

Prerequisites for a scholarship

  • Status as a recognized refugee or beneficiary of subsidiary protection
  • Financial need and provable need of support for studies
  • Admittance to degree program at an Austrian university 
  • Studies begin before the 31st birthday (there is no age limit with nostrification)
  • Extensions: With proof that you have passed your courses, a scholarship can be paid out for a maximum of 4 semesters

Application period for the winter semester 2012

  • August 27th - September 7th, 2012
  • You can deliver your application personally during office hours or send it by mail, fax, or email to the Vienna Integration Center
