Who are recognized refugees?
People who have been granted asylum have successfully completed the asylum process. They reside permanently in Austria and are largely equal to Austrians (also concerning labor law).

The ÖIF provides extensive support to people granted asylum to assist them in successfully integrating into their new home and starting a new life.
Integration aid in the form of financial support services
The ÖIF offers initial integration aid to recognized refugees in the form of financial support for linguistic, professional, and community integration and for housing (starter apartments). Information on integration aid can be found here.
Integration Centers
The ÖIF operates integration centers in Upper Austria, Tyrol, and Styria. These are information and counseling centers for recognized refugees in those states and they offer a comprehensive integration program. Integration Houses
The ÖIF operates three integration houses in Vienna and Lower Austria. People granted asylum participate in a comprehensive, temporary integration program with housing, integration support, German courses, and job search assistance. Information on the ÖIF integration houses can be found here.
Specific Services
The ÖIF created a basic Chechen-German/German-Chechen dictionary especially for the Chechen refugee group. Information on the basic dictionary can be found here.
European Refugee Fund
This fund sponsors integration projects for recognized refugees. The ÖIF is responsible for granting, managing, and monitoring submitted projects. Information on the European Refugee Fund can be found here.
