"Migration & Integration | Zahlen, Daten, Indikatoren 2021" bietet Zahlen und Fakten zur Integration und Migration in Österreich.

Auch 2021 wird der Integrationsbericht durch das Statistische Jahrbuch „Migration & Integration“ der Statistik Austria und des Österreichischen Integrationsfonds (ÖIF) ergänzt. Diese mittlerweile zwölfte Ausgabe des Statistischen Jahrbuchs bietet die Grundlage für eine faktenbasierte Auseinandersetzung mit aktuellen Integrationsthemen.  

Fast ein Viertel der Bevölkerung hat einen Migrationshintergrund

2020 lebten rund 2,14 Millionen Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund in Österreich, was knapp einem Viertel (24,4 %) der Gesamtbevölkerung entspricht. Der Anteil der Bevölkerung mit Migrationshintergrund stieg in den vergangenen zehn Jahren um 5,9 Prozentpunkte an.

39,8 % aller Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund in Österreich hatten 2020 ihre Wurzeln in einem anderen EU- oder EFTA-Staat. Aus den Nachfolgestaaten Jugoslawiens (ohne die EU-Mitglieder Slowenien und Kroatien) stammten 26,0% und aus der Türkei kamen 12,6%. 6,0% hatten einen afghanischen, syrischen oder irakischen Migrationshintergrund. Die größte Gruppe der in Österreich lebenden ausländischen Staatsangehörigen sind mit 209.000 Personen deutsche Staatsangehörige.

Ein Großteil der im Ausland geborenen Bevölkerung lebt in größeren Städten. Anfang 2021 wohnten rund 40% der in Österreich lebenden Personen mit ausländischem Geburtsort in Wien. Von den im Inland Geborenen lebten hingegen nur 17% in der Bundeshauptstadt.

Corona-Pandemie: Auswirkungen auf den Arbeitsmarkt

Die Corona-Pandemie hatte Auswirkungen auf den österreichischen Arbeitsmarkt. Ausländer/-innen waren davon stärker betroffen als Inländer/-innen. Die Arbeitslosenquote der Ausländer/-innen stieg von 10,8% im Jahr 2019 auf 15,3% im Jahr 2020. Auch die Zahl der Langzeitarbeitslosen erhöhte sich im Vergleich zu 2019 bei allen Staatengruppen. Besonders betroffen waren Staatsangehörige aus Afghanistan, Syrien oder dem Irak.
