Guide „Living in Austria“
A guide for taking the first steps in Austria
Information for Austrians living abroad and new immigrants
The guide “Living in Austria” contains relevant information for Austrians abroad as well as nationals of other countries who are considering moving the centre of their life to Austria. In this brochure, you will find brief texts which help you gain an overview of important organisational steps after moving to Austria as well as links that take you to further information.
Topics that are of importance for Austrians abroad are discussed in the first part. For example: How do I contact Austrian representations? Am I obligated to perform military service as an Austrian living abroad?
The second part is devoted to questions that arise for people moving to Austria, e.g. How can I get foreign education qualifications recognised in Austria? How is the Austrian social insurance system structured?
In the third part of this booklet, you can familiarise yourself with the free integration services of the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) that are specifically tailored to Austrians abroad and citizens of other countries.
The guide "Living in Austria" produced by the Federal Chancellery, the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs and the Austrian Integration Fund is available for download in German and English.
